Nannie RaRa has taken up water colour painting. Here you can view her artwork.
To start with Nannie RaRa would paint from her photographs. Then she painted directly from plants and flowers – almost botanical paintings.
Her latest work includes real life plants and animals but becomes close to the edge of reality with the inclusion of toy figures.
These are portraits of me and my family, no faces just objects describing each person.
This set of paintings are trying to be on the edge of reality. The toy family could indeed play among the plants when no one is watching. The paintings are also leaving the picture frames, bringing the paintings into reality.
I’ve recently taken to painting plants and flowers as realistically as possible using watercolour.
This set of paintings were based mostly on people with their dogs, who I met on my walks.
I used both watercolour and gouache for these. I was having a break from painting for my books.

These paintings were some of my earlier work from the Bobbie Robin book. They look very incomplete now.
